Difficulty: Easy * Preparation Time: 10 Min * Cook Time: 10 Min * Makes: 4-5 dozen
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar (not necessary, but it will make them look prettier)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cream of tartar. Stir in sifted flour, chocolate chips. Drop by walnut sized spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges are slightly brown. They will appear underdone. Let them rest 5-10 minutes, until they have hardened.
