Anápolis, Brazil – If you didn’t believe in miracles or guardian angels before, you just may start believing after watching this amazing video. Five year old, Joao Pedro Nascimento, was walking home from school with his grandmother, Vilma, when a chain reaction car accident sent a Volkswagen hurtling towards the pair.

Though Vilma quickly grabbed her grandson’s hand and rushed towards the sidewalk and away from the oncoming car, the series of events happened too quickly for them to avoid being run down by the car. Surveillance footage captures what happened next.

The white car crashed into the pair, knocking them to the ground. Its front and back tires can been seen running over the boy’s body and head. Seconds later, he stands up and rushes to check on his grandmother.

He later told reporters that he was more concerned with his grandmother’s condition than his own welfare. ‘I thought my grandma had broken her spine and other things,’ he said.

In an interview with TV Anhanguera, Vilma said her concern was for her grandson. ‘I saw that the car run over him and come towards me. I thought my grandson’s skull had been crushed.’

Both grandmother and grandson were taken to an area hospital. Medical tests revealed they both suffered only minor injuries. Joao suffered scratches and bruises. Vilma suffered a minor injury to her leg and foot.

‘The doctors said Joao’s injuries are just superficial. I’m not walking properly just yet but I have no fractures,’ Vilma told reporters.

‘It’s just amazing. João is already back playing with his friends and everyone is celebrating our survival,’ Vilma said.  ‘I feel as if we’ve been born again. It’s a miracle we’re still alive. The hand of God helped us and thankfully we’re okay.’
