Meatloaf sometimes gets a bad wrap…usually because people have tried meatloaf prepared by people who don’t exactly know how to make it. But meatloaf is a delicious comfort food that can be healthy-ish and super easy to make.
My Grandmother’s Brown Sugar Meatloaf recipe is both sweet and savory and ultra moist! And when topping with my favorite Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce you cannot beat the flavor!
I used Lightlife Smart Ground® Original, but you can equally use the more traditional ground beef.
Add bread crumbs and eggs
Mold into a loaf shape and place into a greased casserole dish.
Make the Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
Pour the sauce generously over the loaf, making sure to cover every inch of the meatloaf.
Recipe: Nanny’s Brown Sugar Meatloaf
1 package Smart Start Veggie Meat (crumbles)
1 tsp salt
2 slices well toasted white bread, crumbled
1 tsp black pepper
1 small or medium onion, chopped
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. The mixture should be moist and easy shapable.
Mold into a loaf in and place in a well greased baking dish.
Coat completely and very generously with Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce.
Bake on 350 for 30-45 minutes, until the sauce becomes dark and bubbly.
