It’s been a long cold winter for much of the country, but here in the South, Spring has finally arrived. Along with the Tulips, Daffodils and Hyacinths comes dreams of new garden projects. Here at Southern Guide to Life we love projects that turn old discarded objects into works of beauty. Terry Moore of Forever Decorating! has accomplished that and more with this stunning Garden Cupola made from salvaged windows, a yard sale finial and a few odds and ends from the hardware store.
Terry’s Mom always told her, “If you want it bad enough then find a way to make it.” So after years of admiring old fashioned barn cupolas, she knew exactly what she would make out of the old salvaged windows a contractor friend unexpectedly offered.
She found a large unfinished finial at a yard sale for a $1 and picked up some ‘look-a-like’ tin ceiling tiles and metal flashing at the hardware store. With her husband busy, she called her “young and cute handy, dandy handyman” and asked him to bring her vision to life. Some scrap lumber and a few screws later, Terry had her dream cupola
The finished product turned out taller than Terry and added large scale grandeur to her garden. Although a few window panes were missing, this only added to the air circulation for her Bashful Betty statue who now calls this Cupola home.
