After years of throwing over the top parties for her children, friends, and family, Julie decided to turn her talents and skills into a new business. Leaving behind the world of finance as an executive, she launches Crowning Details, a source of unique invitations, printable goods, and party inspiration.
Galvanized metal serving pieces are unexpected elements for any party. They add terrific texture and a rustic vintage feel that is perfect for an All American picnic. While you can buy ready made pieces, if you are willing to be a bit creative your local hardware store can provide inexpensive alternatives that work just as well. Here, a metal bucket turned upside down would work just as well for texture and lift to the tablescape.
We love the miniature USA banner over the handmade fruit pie. Can you get any more American!
It is a stylish repetition for this larger banner hung from a set of nearby trees. There is also one strung across the buffet table. You can find them at Julie’s store.
It gets pretty hot and humid in the south around July. These designer fans would be much appreciated by any guest. They also make a great take home party favor.
This is a perfect example of a focal point that provides big impact for little money. Take a vintage frame and add a simple message or photograph. Group it with a few other items and you have a great mini vignette on the designer buffet.
Add some blueberries and sliced strawberries to color coordinated baking cups for a healthy treat that adds loads of color. Julie found these cups at the Container Store.
You cannot forget the sweet treats. These are added to the second tier of the metal cupcake stand. Note the icing colors match the colors found in the baking cups. We love the red, white, and blue sparkler printable cupcake toppers. They are available at Julie’s store.
Hydrangeas are casually arranged in the top tier adding texture, a new shade of white, and a clever nod to a traditional three tiered cake.
Some tips to obtain this professional designer look:
1) Vary the height of items on your table or buffet for added interest.
2) Repeat colors and styles.
3) Mix and match patterns that are within your color scheme.
Bushel baskets make great containers for a casual party or buffet. Here they are used to house those fans.
Julie found the plates and napkins at the local Dollar Store. The cups are simple white disposable cups with coordinating red and blue sparkler printables attached to the front. You can hot glue a colorful circle to each cup or just to the bottom cup in each stack, as Julie has done here.
With just a little effort and a great inspiration this simple rustic picnic table has been turned into an All American 4th of July picnic. You could replicate this look on your own buffet table or duplicate the look on multiple tables for a larger summer garden party.
